The history of mankind shows - virtually every new invention of people met with great skepticism, and needed some time to get the technology included in a person's life, it has become a familiar and do not cause an alarm. In the XXI century technology is developing rapidly, and a lot of innovation in the coming years may come out of the laboratories and become part of everyday reality. Which of them Russians are loyal configured, and what people in our country, rather frightened - this issue was devoted to a new study of the Higher School of Economics.
At the end of 2015 the Institute of Statistical Studies and Economics of Knowledge of HSE Yuri Voinyliv, Alain Nefedova Valentina Polyakova and Konstantin Fursov studied the attitude of Russians to technological innovation. The most interesting results of the study were presented at the conference Future Foundation Technology Ethics Conference, which was held October 1, 2016 in Moscow.
What scares us
In general, the list of 23 technological innovations were present from many different walks of life, who - according to the "Forecast of scientific and technological development until 2030" - have a chance of entering into actual practice in the foreseeable future.
The lowest interest of Russians turned to the three technologies, with which the international community has the most urgent social problems: hunger and environmental degradation. The ability to eat biscuits crickets interesting, only 13% of respondents, and about a third of the respondents such innovation is worrying. Meanwhile, the UN is seriously considering such technologies as one of the solutions to the problem of hunger with the growth of the world's population.
Only about 14% of Russians are interested in other possible future food - meat products synthesized. "Meat from the tube" technology is also at the stage of readiness for deployment and is considered in the world as a more eco-friendly, effective and humane alternative to agriculture.
Slightly more respondents expressed an interest in clothing production technology of recycled waste - about 16%.
The study authors explain the low interest of the population to these solutions in the Russian market available and the usual replacements for them, as well as a high level of "concern" about the technology: if your local store, you can buy the usual food and clothing without any problems, it is unclear why it is necessary to look them an alternative.
The most attractive innovation
The most interesting and the lowest level of concern caused nine technologies that, according to the study authors, the most understandable of our country's population, in particular through publications in the media. It is worth noting, however, that even the leaders in this list are of interest only half of Russians.
Among these innovations:
· Household solar battery - 51% · 'Smart' clothes - 50% · Sensors pollution - 50% · Electric - 49% · Remote medical consultation - 48% · Pocket toxins detector - 46% · Household batteries - 45% · " smart "house - 43% · trash compactor - 43%.
Other technological innovations from the list of the researchers attributed to the moderate interest group. First of all, it is a technology with a very obvious benefit of an "ordinary person", or decisions that have ambiguous consequences for human life and health. In this list, for example, were unmanned taxis, genetic diagnostics, implantable health sensors, 3D-printers, and other functional foods.
According to the authors of the study, in general, most Russians are wary of new products of science and technology, and actively interested in them only a small stratum of the population.
Polls allow you to make a social portrait of distinctive conductors of new technologies. It is most often men, residents of large cities, the younger generation (primarily, the group of 16-29 years), as well as people with high incomes.
"We live in the era of knowledge economy, in which the scientific and technological results and human capital are key drivers of economic growth - notes Alain Nefedova. - And the population is not only a consumer but an active promoter of new technological solutions. An active educational work: the release of scientific and popular programs, magazines, opening interactive science museums and so on that, according to our research, forms a positive attitudeнаселения к науке и повышает интерес к новым технологиям».
